uPVC Windows: Affordable and Energy-Efficient Solutions

With energy bills still high across the UK, many homeowners are looking for ways to keep their homes warm without breaking the bank. UPVC windows have become a popular choice. They’re affordable, energy-efficient, and need very little looking after.

At Amazing Glazing, we’ve been fitting these windows in Kent homes for over 15 years, and we’ve seen firsthand the difference they can make for homeowners.

What is uPVC?

uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is a tough, low-maintenance material. Unlike traditional materials like wood, it won’t rot or warp, and unlike aluminium, it provides excellent insulation. It offers a balance of durability, style, efficiency and value for money and is the most popular material for home improvements.

Why Choose uPVC Windows?

Unlike traditional timber windows that need regular painting and maintenance or aluminium frames that can be expensive, uPVC windows offer a practical middle ground. They’re made from a rigid plastic material that doesn’t rot, warp, or need painting. You can pretty much fit them and forget about them; keep them clean and clear of debris, and they’ll continue to perform.

The cost of uPVC window frames is a big plus. They’re typically much more affordable than alternatives but still give you excellent performance. When you factor in the minimal maintenance needed over the years and their energy efficiency, they become a valuable investment.

Saving Money on Energy Bills

Energy bills are currently high, which makes the energy-saving benefits of uPVC windows even more important. Modern uPVC window frames, combined with high quality double or triple glazing, work hard to keep warm air inside your home where it belongs. Our windows can achieve A+ energy ratings, which means they’re doing the best possible job at keeping you from turning to your central heating.

There’s an upfront cost for new windows, but the savings they produce can add up over time. The double-glazing units we use are filled with argon gas and have warm edge spacer bars, which all help to stop heat from escaping. Plus, with our 10-year guarantee, you’ll have peace of mind that your investment is protected.

Other Benefits of Our uPVC Windows

While saving money on heating bills is important, our uPVC windows solve other common household headaches. Older windows, or those with poorly installed glazing, often suffer from draughts. Our windows are fitted with tight weather seals that prevent this.

Condensation is another common issue caused by poor windows, especially in the winter. Water droplets that appear on your windows in the morning and after fast heat changes can lead to mould and moisture damage. Modern uPVC windows are much better at dealing with this problem. Because the frames and glass stay warmer, you’ll see much less condensation building up.

At Amazing Glazing, we take security seriously. Our windows come with modern locks built in, and the uPVC frames and glass units are tough and durable.

Our Glazing Options

There’s more to choosing new windows than just picking the frames. The glass itself is just as important, and we’ve got several options to choose from.

Our standard double glazing uses two panes of glass with Argon gas trapped between them. We also fit something called warm edge spacer bars around the edges. These are black strips that help your windows keep the cold out.

If you want to go a step further, we offer triple glazing. This adds an extra pane of glass and another layer of gas, making your windows even better at keeping heat in. Triple glazing is becoming more popular and is a good way to futureproof your home against upcoming building regulations. They are also great at keeping noise out. This is particularly good if you live in the city, near a busy road or under a flight path.

We can use toughened safety glass for areas where safety is important, like ground floor windows or glass near doors. This is specially treated to be much stronger than regular glass and is harder to break through.

If you’re looking to add a bit of style, we work with industry leader Pilkington Glass to offer various decorative options. Whether you want simple frosted glass for privacy or something more decorative, we can help you choose what works best for your style.

Different Styles to Suit Your Home

At Amazing Glazing, we offer four main types of uPVC windows:

Casement Windows

These are the most common windows you’ll see in UK homes. They’re simple, reliable, and do a great job. A casement window opens outwards and comes in many sizes and configurations.

Flush Sash Windows

These windows look a bit more modern, with the window sitting flush in its frame. They’re becoming popular with homeowners who want a cleaner, more contemporary look. They work equally as well in newer houses as they do in traditional homes.

Sliding Sash Windows

If you live in an older property, especially a period one, sliding sash windows might be your best bet. They slide up and down rather than opening outwards. They keep the traditional look of your home while giving you all the benefits of modern uPVC.

Tilt and Turn Windows

These clever windows can open in two ways – either tilting inwards from the top for ventilation or opening fully inwards. They’re perfect for flats or upstairs windows where cleaning from the outside might be tricky.

Colours and Finishes

Gone are the days when uPVC windows only came in white. We now offer a wide range of colours to match your home’s style. Whether you want classic white, a wood-effect finish, or modern grey upvc windows, we’ve got options to suit every taste. The colour isn’t painted on, it’s part of the uPVC itself, which means it won’t peel or fade over time.
